They include a description of what they are, what they do and possible side effects they may have. <p>This is a carotenoid, antioxidant, that is found in brown seaweeds and is popular in Asian cuisine. Studies that are being done on lab animals show that this helps the body lose abdominal elephantine, but there is just not enough research on it to show if it indeed helps humans in their quest for flat stomachs. Side effects are still unknown with flucoxanthin because of the lack of studies, but it is high in iodine.

<p><b>Hoodia</b>
</p>
<p>Hoodia is a plant that resembles a cactus and grows mainly in South Africa. It is a natural appetite suppressant, which is why it is so popular in weight-loss supplements. Unfortunately, many diet pills that claim they have Hoodia in them do not actually contain the real thing, so they may not work to stave off hunger. This is where the FDA would come in handy if they regulated it.

<p><b>Guarana</b>
</p>
<p>Like caffeine, but don&#8217;t feel it&#8217;s strong enough for you?  Try this plant from the Amazon rain forest, it has twice the amount of caffeine found in coffee beans! But, even though it gives you more energy it can also raise your heart rate and cause anxiety. Definitely not recommended for anyone with heart problems.

<p><b>Chromium</b>
</p>
<p>Chromium is a mineral that aides in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Because it helps insulin move glucose into the blood where it can be used it is recommended for people with diabetes, as a weight-loss supplement. Though, it needs to be mentioned that it should be done only under a physicians care. It can have a negative effect on neurotransmitter levels.

<p><b>Ephedra</b>
</p>
<p>This was a well-liked weight-loss substance for years until it started to cause it&#8217;s users to have heart attacks, strokes and seizures, sometimes leading to death. After it was taken off the market in 2004 it was somewhat replaced with a similar herb called Bitter Orange. This may also raise blood pressure though, among other side effects.
</p>
<p>With the cramped research on most of these diet supplements it seems more wise to unprejudiced watch what you eat and get plenty of exercise. If you feel you definitely need to aide of a pill then Hoodia seems to be the safest form, but without proper testing there is no guarantee that it too won&#8217;t suddenly cause some negative side effects in the people that take it.

<p>To lose weight and maintain that loss, you will need to change your lifestyle. You will need to eat less food and exercise more. You will need to change your relationship with food, and spy to it for sustenance instead of comfort.

<p>If you are really ready to lose weight and to stay healthy, then below are some commonsense weight loss tips to get you started.
</p>
<p>1) You need to change your mind space. Instead of living to eat, it&#8217;s time to eat to live.
</p>
<p>One of the most fundamental things you can do to ensure weight loss success is work hard to change your mind set. You may need therapy. You may be able to do this through honesty and prayer.
</p>
<p>You are going to have to decide that you are no longer going to live to eat. Instead you are going to eat to live. What this means is that your relationship with food needs to change. Instead of looking to food for companionship, pleasure and comfort, you are going to choose healthy foods and reasonable portions for energy and sustenance.

Some of these diets work, for a little while, they you gain the weight back. Some are too hard to stick too. And some just flat out don&#8217;t work for you. Well I am one of those people where none of them work, mainly for me it is will power, top-notch food is just so darn good, why can&#8217;t it be good for you?
</p>
<p>I was at an average weight my whole life, when I became around 19, I stopped gaining and was comfortable. I considered myself good looking, never had a problem getting dates or buying cute clothes. I figured I could lose 10 pounds but wasn&#8217;t going to give up advantageous food for more than a week so I didn&#8217;t bother much. At the ripe age of 21 I got married to a man who could do nothing but eat pizza and ice cream for every meal and calm have a six pack. I shortly thereafter became pregnant with my graceful daughter and gained only about 28 pounds for my whole pregnancy, I looked mammoth. I had the nice tall body with the perfect big pregnant belly, yes other pregnant women hated me. I ate healthy through the pregnancy because I had too, I was diagnosed with diabetes and did not want to wound my baby.
</p>
<p>After giving birth to my seven pound six ounce beauty I lost about 15 pounds pretty fleet, so not worthy to go. I began eating normal again, not mass amounts, but not super healthy either. About 4 months later I didn&#8217;t even realize it until I went to the doctor, I had gained 40 pounds! This was after already having my baby, no one told me my metabolism would come to a screeching halt. I tried eating much less, tried eating better, but that only keeps up for so many days before I feel like I am starving. &#8220;Just this one small bowl of ice cream.&#8221; Or &#8220;just a few chips or exiguous sandwich late night.&#8221; Is what I would think. Does any of these feelings sound familiar?  After a while you fair assume screw it right?  Well I hated the way I looked but why bother.
</p>
<p>I went and talked to some professionals and here is the natural pleasurable plan I took, where I wouldn&#8217;t feel as if I were &#8220;starving&#8221; to death. I began walking on my treadmill or taking my daughter for walks in the stroller on nice days, nothing straining, but it adds up in the end. I decided to calorie count, my goal is no more than 1000 total a day, it seemed hard until I went shopping and bought all chunky free items (not low fat) instead of the normal, they taste the same to me and what a huge inequity they make. I cooked with olive oil instead of butter, I bought only wheat breads instead of whites. All of these runt things I changed and bought that cost the same probably sever about 1500 calories a day.
</p>
<p>The next step I took was simple but easier said than done, drinking more water. Water has no taste to me and a soda seems to do me just shapely, however, drinking more water helps with weight loss a great deal and fills you up more. I composed drink soda, I appreciate the fizz, I buy the &#8216;zero&#8217; soda. Most makers make the soda&#8217;s that say &#8216;zero&#8217; on them meaning zero carbs and calories in them, diet soda is just as bad as regular so thank heavens for these.
</p>
<p>Buying affordable supplements such as fish oil capsules and cinnamon capsules really helped with sugar control and weight loss as well. Fish oil makes your little walk you took that day multiply in your body, causing more weight to come off as well as better heart health. Cinnamon helps lower sugar and help in weight loss.
</p>
<p>In the end no diet is really going to work and if it does it&#8217;s only temporary, not to mention a pain and costly. A change of lifestyle is what is needed. Replace your foods, next time at the store only buy fat free and sugar free items, compare your normal ranch dressing to the chubby free ranch dressing on calories and carbs, huge difference and not much taste difference. Making these little changes I lost 40 pounds in three months, which most diets cannot even do that, and I sit on the couch a lot as well. No one can force you to buy the better stuff or take a simple fish oil pill every day along with all the other little lifestyle changes, but it is well worth it in making your life longer and making you look and feel better.

I have lost a substantial amount of weight on my own and using the Jenny Craig weight loss program in the past. But once again, I find that I am at my heaviest weight ever. After being pregnant 6 times in the past 8 years, I need help. I am embarrassed to admit how much weight I need to lose, but it is suitable around 100 pounds. I have not tried Hoodia or Phen-Phen or any of the other diet aides or pills. Frankly, they scare me. I don&#8217;t want to lose weight using one of these to only find out later that there were side-effects that were not originally known about.
</p>
<p>I heard about alli and did a itsy-bitsy bit of research to see how it worked and whether it would be a suited fit for me. In my case, I think that this may work. alli will befriend me in two ways &#8211; (1) there is the negative motivator factor and (2) there is the fat blocking effect. The key to your diet while taking alli is to maintain a low-fat diet (15 grams of chubby or less per meal). If you exceed 15 grams, this is where the &#8220;negative motivator&#8221; factor comes in. From the alli website &#8211; &#8220;While no one likes experiencing treatment effects, they might help you think twice about eating questionable fat content. If you think of it like that, alli can act like a security guard for your late-night cravings.&#8221; Followed by this &#8211; &#8220;You may feel an urgent need to go to the bathroom. Until you have a sense of any treatment effects, it&#8217;s probably a smart idea to wear dark pants, and bring a change of clothes with you to work.&#8221; alli blocks the absorption of a portion of the fat consumed in each meal; if you overdo it, you may be spending a bit more time than usual in your bathroom. The second part of alli that will help me is for the allowable fat that I do eat; alli will block the absorption of about 25% of that fat. The alli material states that alli will aid you to lose about 50% more weight than you would than just following a low-fat diet. For example, if you followed a low-fat, you might lose 10 pounds, but if you add the fat blocking of alli those 10 pounds will become 15 pounds.
</p>
<p>I purchased the alli starter kit this past Tuesday for $48. As piece of that purchase, in addition to the 60 pills, you are given access to parts of the alli website that can relieve you track your meals or even give you a meal view. They recommend that you take a pill with each meal that will contain fat. At this point, I have decided to take one with lunch and one with dinner. alli recommends starting your low-fat diet several days in advance of taking your first pill. I began my low-fat diet Wednesday, and took my first alli pill with lunch today (Saturday). It has been five hours since the first pill, and I am happy to report at this point that I have had no negative side effects.
</p>
